    I think the women of the South were survivors. When the men went off to fight in the war they took over the duties of the men. They should have had more respect than they got. A "Southern lady" to me would be someone who would have done the things a woman was supposed to do. She would have been submissive to her husband, took care of the house and the children, and be good teachers and faithful to God.
