I do realize that as i post this there are only five minutes left in southern cultures week. As I sit here looking at my roomate, I came to a startling conclusion. Simply by looking at the two of us side by side, one would never know that I have lived in the south all my life, and she claims Colorado as her home. Outwardly we are no different. But ask us to pronounce the state from which she hails, and it becomes immediately obvious that one of us is southern and the other is western. Maybe once upon a time outward appearances indicated north or south. I do not think that this is true in our time period.
