In todays society a southern women is often interpreted
as someone who sits home all day sipping tea and raising the
"youngins." Often you meet someone who pictures the southern
woman as they were in the old days. Walking around in big hoop
shirts, speaking with a deep southern brogue, and doing nothing
but lazing around the house.
Todays southen woman has come so far. We raise our kids, have
a career, manage a house, back our husbands, and keep our faith when
all seems to go wrong. Yet the sterotype still remains. How much
are we going to have to do before we are looked at as equal, strong,
inteligent women, instead of the helpless, spoiled, ingnorant twits history
often portrays us as.
