I don't feel that there is anything different from southern women and women from any other part of the world. After reaching a certian age all women tend to become more opinionated and stronger willed. About the only differences I can see are in speech and certain other minor regional characteristics such as outward appearance prefferences. However, I when I hear of southern "women" I think of those strong willed women who worked along side their husbands on the farms and who weren't afraid to get their hands dirty. On the other hand, southern ladies bring to mind the beautifully dressed women who were pampered day in and day out and only represented a very small minority in southern women. This difference is hardly evident, if at all today. Now women strive to be equal with men and are ready and willing to put forth any back-breaking efforts that will get them ahead in life without the help of men, and in most cases anyone else.
