Attendance Policy:
Attendance policy is based on the department guidelines. You are allowed 3 absences without grade penalty. Your fourth absence will cause your grade to be dropped one letter. One letter grade will be dropped for each additional absence. If you are absent due to illness you must bring a doctor’s note to allow the absence to be excused. If you are injured and unable to participate you must attend class anyway. I will not make you exercise if your injury prevents you from participating. If you are unable to workout, come to class to be counted for attendance.
Participation:
Students are evaluated on participation in the class. Please come to class ready and willing to participate.
Make-up Policy:
I understand that there are days when you simply cannot come to class but want to earn the points. You are welcome to participate in another aerobic instructor’s class up to 3 times. Write a note informing me of the day and time you exercised and have the instructor sign it.
An assignment will be given during the semester to be turned into me. I prefer that you e-mail the assignments, but I will take them on paper. There will be 1 written assignment. This assignment is due by mid term.
The assignment will be a food journal. I want you to keep track of everything you eat for one week. You must include the calorie count for each item. You can find calorie amounts at http://www.calorieking.com/ or http://caloriecount.about.com
Mid Term and Final: You will be given a written mid-term and final that you will have to turn into me. We will work out on these days also.
Extra Credit will be available during the semester. Each extra credit will count for 1 missed class. These will include:
1. Giving blood. You must provide proof like a hole in the arm or a t-shirt.
2. Attending Rec Center fitness classes (with note from instructor).
3. 2 page paper on the ‘Diet Wars’ film. You must write a summary plus your own conclusions. It can be found in the Media Center or available in parts on YouTube.
Students are encouraged bring water to class. Please wear comfortable clothes that will allow movement.
