The Baptist Faith and MessageA Statement Adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention
The Bible is the only infallible rule of the Baptist (indeed the Christian) faith, yet confessions can be valuable summaries of Biblical doctrine, aids to understanding, warnings against false doctrine, and can provide important bonds of union and badges of distinctiveness.
The Southern Baptist Convention's (informative, not normative) confession is called "The Baptist Faith and Message." It was first adopted in 1925 and is now on its fourth version.
The 1925 version was based on the New Hampshire confession of Faith, a "kinder and gentler version" of the London Confession.
