The Mathematics and Statistics
Department of The University of Tennessee at Martin will sponsor the annual
Junior High School / Middle School Mathematics Contest on Thursday, April 29, 2010.
The contest will include sixth, seventh and eighth grade divisions. This mailing refers to all three
divisions.
Contest information, a sample enrollment form, and tentative
contest schedule are included in this mailing.
You will receive your official
contest enrollment form and schedule in the Spring. If your school intends to participate in the
contest, your enrollment form should be returned
by Friday, April 9, 2010. Because of printing and mailing costs, you
will not be notified by mail of our receipt of your enrollment form. However, if you will include your email address
on the form, we will notify you by email of our receipt of your form. If you prefer you can check the contest web
page, we will keep a list of schools currently registered, the contest
schedule, registration form and other details on the contest Web page. The

The test fee is $5.00 per contestant. We prefer that you send payment (in the form of a check) with your enrollment form. Please make check payable to “UTM Math and Stat Department”. After testing begins, additional tests will be sold at $1.00 per copy.
Calculators will be allowed.
Students may use any calculator that does not have a QWERTY
keyboard. There will be 30 questions,
and the scoring formula will be 4R – W + 30.
Testing time will be 60 minutes.
