2008-2009 PRE-COLLEGE STUDIO
PRIVATE LESSON POLICIES
Lessons begin the week of September 1, 2008 and go through the week of May 18, 2009. A minimum of 30 lessons will be given; any missed by the teacher will be rescheduled. Lessons are in UTMís Fine Arts Building, Room 211.
Make-ups for private lessons will be offered for absences due to sickness or death in the family; please give notification before your lesson time. Lessons missed for other reasons will not be made up and no tuition will be refunded.
However, you may swap lessons on those occasions when you know you need to make a change.Rescheduling or swapping lessons is YOUR job. Be sure you have a good reason before you call another student to switch and keep in mind that other students may not be able to change their schedules to accommodate your request.
Please note the special events of the year (auditions, recitals, concerts, etc.) All students are expected to prepare and participate in the appropriate events.
SNOW DAYS: When it snows, lessons go right on. Public school closings are NOT followed. If you really get snowed in, please call and make alternate lesson arrangements. Otherwise, you will be expected.
2008-2009 Tuition Payment
The year's tuition is divided into 9 equal payments due the first lesson of each month, September, 2008 through May, 2009. Payments are $150 per month for 40 minute lessons, and include tuition, audition and festival fees, subscriptions to Flute Talk or Piano Explorer/Clavier, and all music. Written receipts are given for all payments.
A minimum of 5 hours practice per week including non-lesson weeks but excluding holidays is expected of students in grades 9-12. A minimum of 4 hours of practice per week is expected of students in grades 5-8, and a minimum of 3 hours of practice per week is expected of students grades 4 and below. A practice chart is kept on the studio door indicating those who have practiced accordingly. Students who do not practice or progress will be released.
