ELIGIBILITY:
Category I: Piano solo, High School Grades 10 through 12
Category II: Piano solo, Grades 7 through Grade 9
Category III: The Elaine Harriss Elementary Competition
(piano solo through Grade 6)
Category IV: The Allison Nelson Piano Ensemble Competition
(any combination of players through Grade 12)

Previous first-place winners are ineligible to enter the same category the following year.

REPERTOIRE: Each contestant, or ensemble, will perform two original works (not arrangements) of contrasting styles, not to exceed a total of 15 minutes. Individual movements of larger works will be accepted. Solo works are to be performed from memory - ensemble players may use music. No unauthorized photocopies are allowed.

PRIZES:
Category I -    First place $250,   Second place $100
Category II -   First place $100,   Second place $50
Category III-   First place $100,   Second place $50
Category IV -  First place $100

All contestants will receive a certificate of participation and a copy of the judge's evaluations.

SCHOLARSHIPS (for music majors): All graduating seniors performing successfully in the competition will be offered a minimum $4,000 music scholarship to attend UTM. The second place winner in High School Solo will be eligible for a $6,000 Honors Music Scholarship, and the first place winner will be eligible for a $12,000 Chancellor's Music Scholarship. All scholarships are subject to additional university regulations.

ENTRANCE FEE: A non-refundable fee of $20 for each solo entrant and/or $10 for each ensemble player must accompany the application. Please make checks payable to The University of Tennessee.
