UTM offers four Bachelor's degrees in music for the student with piano as the principal instrument. See the current catalogue for complete requirements. (PDF file)
Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance
This is a professional degree program for the student who plans a career in performance. It requires 8 semesters of applied piano lessons (one-hour lesson per week). A junior and a senior recital are required.
Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy
This is a professional degree program for the student who plans a career as a studio teacher. It requires 8 semesters of applied piano lessons (one-hour lesson per week) and a senior recital.
Bachelor of Music Education with piano as the principal instrument
This is a professional degree program for the student who plans a career teaching music in schools. This requires 7 semesters of applied piano lessons (one-hour lesson per week). A senior recital is required (may be a half recital performed jointly with another student or it may be a full recital).
Bachelor of Arts with piano as the principal instrument
This is a broad based degree for the student who wants a wide humanities background. This requires 6 semesters of applied piano lessons (half-hour lesson per week).. No recital required.
