The Northwest Tennessee Chapter of Tennessee Trails is currently in inactive status, with plans for resumption of activities in Fall 2009. In the meantime, if you have questions about TTA in general or activities of other chapters, please feel free to contact the Tennessee
Trails Association. In particular, chapters in Jackson and Clarksville schedule activities during the summer months. As for the Northwest Chapter, Graydon Swisher can provide insight into activities of the Northwest Chapter of TTA beginning in fall 2009.
The Northwest Tennessee Chapter of the Tennessee
Trails Association is one of 14 clubs throughout Tennessee
dedicated to the promotion, construction, and maintenance of
a statewide system of hiking trails, and to conservation of natural
resources inherent to that objectiv
Founded in April and May of 2000, the club sponsored its inaugural
hiking event on the Fort Henry Trail at the Land Between the
Lakes.
Activities of the chapter depend upon the desires and interests
of its members. We are an activist advocate of the Brian Brown
Memorial Greenway Project, a project first envisioned by Brian
Brown, the late director of UT Martin's campus recreation program
and founding member of the the Northwest Tennessee Chapter of
TTA. As with other chapters, we regularly schedule (primarily)
day hikes in the region, sometimes joining with clubs such as
the chapters in Clarksville and Memphis to co-sponsor hikes.
Other anticipated projects include trail building and maintenance.
