Oak Ridge National Laboratory Environmental Sciences Division
ESD's mission is to understand and evaluate how the development and use of energy affect the environment. To accomplish this mission, division staff conduct basic and applied research, assess environmental impacts of projects and policies, develop and de monstrate environmental technologies, and support education activities.

United Nations Environment Programme
UNEP's mandate is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. One important proj ect is the Global Resource Information Database. The objective of UNEP/GRID is to help nations attain sustainable development by making remotely-sensed images and other spatial information available as well as de veloping methods for using this information to support models of population and environment.

Information Center for the Environment
The Information Center for the Environment is a cooperative effort of environmental scientists at the University of California, Davis and collaborators at over thirty private, state, federal, and international organizations interested in environmental pro tection.

National Library for the Environment
