Environment Canada Bureau of Land Management The mission of the Bureau of Land Management is to sustain the health, diversity and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The BLM manages approximately one-third of all U.S. lands. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration NOAA strives to describe and predict changes in the Earth's environment, and conserve and manage wisely the Nation's coastal and marine resources to ensure sustainable economic opportunities. Envirolink Envirolink claims to be "the largest online environmental information resource on the planet." Global Change Master Directory NASA's GCMD holds descriptions of and access information for over 3,900 Earth science data sets. Oak Ridge National Laboratory Environmental Sciences Division ESD's mission is to understand and evaluate how the development and use of energy affect the environment. To accomplish this mission, division staff conduct basic and applied research, assess environmental impacts of projects and policies, develop and de monstrate environmental technologies, and support education activities. The National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) "The National Biological Information Infrastructure is broad-based, collaborative program amongst federal, state, international, non-government, academic, and private industry partners. Click here to learn more about the wide scope and variety of partnerships." United Nations Environment Programme UNEP's mandate is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. One important proj ect is the Global Resource Information Database. The objective of UNEP/GRID is to help nations attain sustainable development by making remotely-sensed images and other spatial information available as well as de veloping methods for using this information to support models of population and environment. Information Center for the Environment The Information Center for the Environment is a cooperative effort of environmental scientists at the University of California, Davis and collaborators at over thirty private, state, federal, and international organizations interested in environmental pro tection. Natural Resources Research Information Pages Natural Resources Research Information Pages (NRRIPS) provide an Internet resource guide for natural resources students, researchers and practitioners. National Library for the Environment The National Library for the Environment is a project of the Committee for the National Institute for the Environment (CNIE). The library addresses the need for objective, scientifically sound information on environmental issues. |
