The Chronicle of Higher Education provides free daily blurbs on developments in higher education, an open forum for discussing issues in higher education (Colloquy), and the job announcements from the previous issue. Subscribers get additional services including daily listings of grant opportunities and the full text of the higher education developments mentioned above.


AAHE - American Association for Higher Education
AAHE is a national organization of faculty, administrators, students, policymakers and leaders from foundations, government and business "dedicated to improving the quality of American higher education". The home page links to special projects, publications, conferences, membership information, and a discussion forum.


AAUP - American Association of University Professors
The purpose of this organization is to "defend academic freedom and tenure, advocate collegial governance and develop policies ensuring due process". The site offers information on legislative priorities, membership, committees, and publications


ERIC Clearinghouse on Higher Education
The 30-year-old HE Clearinghouse, staffed by scholars and resource specialists, utilizes their web page to disseminate frequently requested bibliographies, digests, frequently asked questions and their answers, a catalog of the ASHE-ERIC Higher Education Report Series, and links to other key higher education sites.


HEPROC - Higher Education Processes
HEPROC, short for "higher education processes." is a participatory, free, international public service discussion and research environment. Thirteen forum discussions are conducted via e-mail. This site gives information on getting involved.


Petersons.Com
This well-organized, comprehensive site covers accredited U.S. programs from kindergarten through graduate study. While this site offers a wealth of information and includes a host of topics including summer programs, distance learning and study abroad, be advised that additional information may be obtained in the Peterson print guides which are located at the reference desks in the Merrill and Sci/Tech Libraries.


SCUP - Society for College and University Planning
SCUP's mission is "the promotion, advancement and application of effective planning in higher education". Membership, workshop, conference and publication is provided.


HEIRAlliance - The Higher Education Information Resources Alliance of the Association of Research Libraries, CAUSE, and Educom
"The Executive Strategies series was designed to keep chief higher education executives informed about critical issues related to information technologies. These reports are available in full text at this site, as are Evaluation Guidelines for Institutional Information Resources. An example is given of the information technology environment at an information-resources-intensive institution."


World Lecture Hall
The World Lecture Hall is a site where you can access higher education course materials being delivered on the web. Course syllabi, lecture notes, bibliographies, as well as audio and graphic files can be found here to provide ideas for enriching an existing course or to establish a new one.
