Ed, wife Elaine, Gregory, Melanie, and Rachel.

Born:  Norfolk, Virginia in Feb. 1944 on the date of the launching of the Shangri La. 

I was reared in Norfolk Highlands and attended Norfolk Highlands Elementary School and Great Bridge High School, home of the Wildcats.
After graduation from high school,  I enrolled at Ga. Tech in Atlanta, Georgia.


In 1962, I attended the University of Washington in Seattle.

I attended Ga. Tech from 1962 to 1971 and received a B.S.I.E. in 1966, a M.S.I.E in 1968, and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering in 1971.   I was married to Elaine Darling Hance in Atlanta, Ga. on Dec. 6, 1969, at her parents home in Ansley Park. After graduating,  I moved to Martin, Tenn. and began teaching at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

We lived on a farm in the country for 25 years and moved into town leaving behind Throckmorton and Peppie (two dogs).  They were adopted by the new owner.

My hobbies are basketball, biking, and ballroom and square dancing.
