GEOGRAPHY 151 - Introduction to Regional Geography: North America, Europe, and Russia Fall 2009 Section 004 / CRN 40291 Tuesdays & Thursdays / 09:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. 207 Johnson EPS Building Geography 151 is designed to introduce students to the environmental, cultural, economic, and political aspects of North America, Europe, and Russia. Students will also learn the map locations of various physical and human features of features in these regions.
Featured lecture topics include, but are not limited to: * Physiographic regions of North America * Site, situation, attitude, and New York City * The critical importance of Canada * The demographic problems of Europe * The emergence and future(s) of the European Union * The transformation of Berlin * Romania at the crossroads * The self-destruction and re-emergence of Russia This course is presented in a lecture/discussion format. Students will be responsible to completing at least three multi-format examinations, four map quizzes, and several take-home assignments. Regular attendance and in-class participation are also expected. This course can be used to partially fulfill UT Martin's General Education / Social and Behavioral Science Requirement as well as the BA and BS Social Science requirements.
