Potential partners must meet five basic criteria:
- Applicants must be full-time residents of Weakley County for a minimum of one year.
- Applicants must have a need for housing, either because they currently live in housing
that is physically substandard, or because they are spending more than 50% of their income
on housing.
- Applicants must be willing to put 200 hours of "sweat equity" into the construction of
their homes and the homes of other partners. (This may involve 20-30 hours of work per month
beyond their regular employment.)
- Applicants must have the ability to make monthly house payments. They must not have
excessive credit card debt or multiple bills in collections (excluding medical debt). They
must not have declared bankruptcy in the last three years. They must also have had stable
income for the last twelve months.
- Finally, applicants must meet our annual income guidelines. The total household income for all
individuals 18 and over who plan to live in the home must fall within the following
ranges for FY2011:
