Drupal 6 themes are much easier
Drupal 6 was officially released earlier this year. Many of the improvements were under the hood, but changes in the theme engine have made site customization really simple. You can now deploy a css only theme. Just create the new css and supporting graphics. Put them in a folder in the themes directory. Make sure you create at theme.info file to give the details of the theme to drupal. Enable the theme. Done. The site you are reading was done this way. Three image files and a stylesheet are the only components that I had to deal with to put together my Coffee inspired theme.
Perhaps Apple Has Heard Its Worshipper's Prayers
It has often been said that Mac users tend to behave like a cult. They make fun of the non-believers who make up about 90-something percent of the world's personal computer users. They watch Steve Jobs Keynotes with the same devotion of an Evangelical Christian watching the Ten Commandments or the Billy Graham Crusade. They scour the internet looking for clues about the latest holy grail device that is being secretly designed in Cupertino, California. I bet that if you look closely at Leonardo DaVinci's art work, there is an ipod in there somewhere.
That insane level of devotion recently has astounded me. I built this website as a bit of a test of the Drupal CMS.
New VMware Fusion Beta
I have been using the VMware Fusion Beta since its first release. Most everyone else around here jumped on the Parallels band wagon. Rather than spending money on Parallels, I decided to give the Fusion product a trial run on my new Mac Pro tower.
VMware VI3 was the Equivalent of Inventing a Bread Maker/Slicer/Butterer
Since I started using VMware's ESX and related technologies, my normal workflow has changed tremendously. No longer do I spend lots of time deploying new hardware and OS combinations to take care of singular tasks. I now deploy customized installations of OS and application stacks to perform those singular tasks on a common hardware platform. I am now less vulnerable to a single point of hardware failure. I can get more things done more quickly.
