Important: You MUST have access to Office 365 or Office 2016, complete with Microsoft Access.
Note that presently, Office 365 does not include Access. You will need to use a UTM computer with the desktop version of Office 2016 in order to complete Access assignments.
You cannot successfully complete this course without Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access 2016.
Additionally, you MUST use the Windows version of Office. The Macintosh version will not interface properly with the auto-grader.
Classroom demonstrations of the assignments will be done with (desktop version) Office 2016.

Course Description/Information:
This class provides an introduction to office applications with emphasis on spreadsheet and database application skills.
There are no prerequisites or co-Requisites.

Course Resources:
Only SAM 2016's online resource is used. Canvas is not used (except for informative purposes).

Information Systems 205 does not address BSBA 2, 4.

Course Specific Objectives related to Course Description:
Objectives in INFS 205 are geared to ensure student knowledge in the following areas:

  1. Provide students an opportunity to apply concepts related to data manipulation through electronic office applications (BSBA 1, 5)
  2. Ensure student achievement of competence in basic fundamentals and the application of electronic office application skills (BSBA 3, 6)
  3. Aid in the achievement of computer literacy necessary for continuation in academic studies and/or future employment (BSBA 1, 3, 5, 6)

Course Outline:
Section 002 (on-campus):
This class section has been set up to be primarily "online" (working on your own using SAM 2016) with class time devoted to demonstrating the material and assisting with questions. Every other class meeting (after the first one) will repeat the prior class meeting material, unless specified otherwise on the calendar below.

Section OL1 (online):
This class section is, of course, entirely online (working on your own using SAM 2016). I am available via email to help answer questions, normally with a 1-day turnaround. Please note that, if you happen to wish to do so, you are welcome to attend any on-campus class meeting (section 002), where I demonstrate the material and assist with questions. Refer to the calendar below for more info.
