Sci-Fi Genre
The Science Fiction genre is one of the most eclectic categories of movies. Sci-fi movies range in story line from the creepy to the paranormal to the scientifically unexplainable. They often deal with the fascination of travel outside of this planet and solar system but some may be set as close as the local boggy creek. Sci-fi movies have changed greatly (and some would argue greatly improved) over the last few decades from the cheesy special effect filled Godzilla tales to the computer graphics laden Star Wars series.

One of the most prolific Sci-Fi series of all time is George Lucas’s Star Wars. One would have to be living under a rock to not know about Star Wars. The series follows the lives of many groups who live during a political upheaval and war that spreads a galaxy far, far away. Included in these groups are the Skywalker family, the Jedi and the Sith, the Rebel Alliance and the Imperial Empire. In the end and through many hardships, the Alliance triumph over the long reigning power of the Empire, Luke Skywalker stands as the last of the Jedi who defeated the Sith, and peace looks hopeful in the future. This series is a great example of a conglomerate media, spreading into books, comics, toys, computer games, and a vast host of other commercial commodities.
