Pat Head Summit

By now most everyone will have heard the news of Pat Head Summit’s diagnosis with early-onset dementia. UTM, where the basketball floor is named for her, has no more revered alum than Pat. My first response was to feel sorry for her, but I am sure she would prefer good vibes for her in the battle to slow down and withstand what faces her. All of us must play the game of life with the aid of our advantages and the difficulty of our disadvantages; and no one knows more about winning games that Pat Head Summit.

    This is a comment on class size. I have heard some student complaints on class size for some classes and, of course, faculty complaints. Class size needs to vary, depending on the activities necessary to accomplish objectives and fulfill goals. I think, however, that professional groups concerned with each discipline’s pedagogy have class-size standards. Even where it is unrealistic to meet those standards, I think it might be good to keep them on record. I would be surprised if SACS did not take these into account. TennesseeBob
