I learned just today at a service-learning conference, that for 2012, SACS, the accrediting body for all schools in the south; will have language promoting service learning as a desirable pedagogical approach. I have not seen the actual wording yet, and I am not sure it is fully decide, but I find this exciting because it will likely make it easier for all faculty handbooks to now include such language.
