It appears that my line of Erk family members may have originated in Erkheim, Germany. The person who ruled over Erkheim (circa 15th century) decided to change from the Catholic to Protestant religion; his subjects were to do the same. The Catholic Bishop in Wurzburg supposedly offered farm work to Catholics who wanted to move to Neuses Am Berg from Erkheim. My line of Erk family may have been among this group to emigrate to Neuses Am Berg.Neuses Am Berg is a small village just a few miles from Dettelbach; the nearest large city is Wurzburg. Neuses Am Berg was founded circa early 1600s; it supported farming and wine production. I have visited Neuses Am Berg; there are no living Erk family members residing there.If this line of Erk family members can reconnect and establish communication, please contact me. I do not speak or write German/Deutsch but I have a friend who can translate for me.
