The first issue of the KIMAT-CHEMEX Newsletter for area's chemistry teachers and other professionals was published in September, 1982 at Southeast Missouri State University as KIMAT Area Newsletter. The current name was adopted in the second year and has since been produced at UTMartin cosponsored by the Kentucky Lake and Southern Illinois Sections of the American Chemical Society and the chemistry departments at:
Murray State University, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau, the University of Tennessee at Martin, and the University of Central Arkansas at Conway.
