Understanding completely that they have had offerings to speed up Firefox for what seems like forever now, the best solutions are the ones found here. Now granted, the article is dated and some of these fixes may already be added into the latest releases. But one that I found that made a world of difference for me was to kill off the network prefetch nonsense.
In your Firefox address bar, go to:
about:config
Then locate:
network.prefetch-next
Set it to false, rather than true. And that’s it! You are welcome to verify that the other settings are in tune, but like I said, this was a dated article, so they very well may already be toggled over for you.
