What happened?
The world is all about the internet these days. So what is the first thing you do when you set up a machine. Make sure you can connect to the internet of course! But wait ... it is not working. You run the wizard and it is not working either! Oh no!
Don't panic
Basically, you have a couple of files that have become corrupt and need to be replaced. Follow these instructions and I am willing to bet you this will correct your problem.
- The first file that will need to be replaced is called Tapi32.dll, located in your \ windows \ system \ folder. The other problem file is most likely Ichelp.dll, located in your \ Program files \ Internet Explorer \ Connection Wizard \ folder.
- You will need to go to the RUN box from your Start Menu and type sfc. From there you will select “extract one file from installation disk.” You will need to follow the extraction process outlined here. The file backup copies from which you’ll extract are generally located in someplace like C:\Windows\Options\cabs.
Once the files have been extracted and replaced, you should be all set.
