Repairing Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer can be quite a beast sometimes. Now that spyware is actively attacking IE, the problem is growing worse. The solution is to just repair the browser. Here is how
First clean-up
Delete your temp files from your cache.
- Go to Tools, Internet Options
- Delete Files. Make sure that "delete all offline content" is checked, also.
- Go to Add & Remove Programs, "Internet Explorer", open it, 3 options available, one is "repair," send the procedure, IE will scan and check for corrupted or damaged files, reboot.
Register the files
Start, Run, then type in one at a time:
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll (Hit OK)
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll (Hit OK)
regsvr32 Shell32.dll (Hit OK)
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll (Hit OK)
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll (Hit OK)
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll (Hit OK)
regsvr32 msjava.dll (Hit OK)
After each line, and clicking OK, a dialog box notifies that the dll has been registered successfully. After registering all dlls, reboot.
If still having problems, some of the core Internet Explorer .dll files may not be correctly registered. To register key .dll files for Internet Explorer:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type:
Primary Hard Drive Letter:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe /rereg
- Click OK.
