Why is it blank?
When you try to access the Windows Update Site, a blank page may appear without
any text or graphics. Additionally, you may receive the following error message
in your Internet Explorer status bar: Done, but with errors on page
This behavior may occur if the Visual Basic Scripting Support (VBScript) component did not install properly on Internet Explorer or became corrupted after it successfully installed.
Resoultion
To resolve this behavior, follow these steps in the order they appear:
| a. | Visit the following Microsoft Web site: |
| b. | Click the download link to start the download, or select a different language from the drop-down list, and then click Go. |
| c. | Click Run this program from its current location to download and install the update. |
| d. | After the installation is complete, restart your computer to go back to the Windows Update Web site. |
Register the DLL files that are associated with the Windows Update Web site and clear the browser's cache and history.
| a. | Click Start, and then click Run. |
| b. | Type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system\vbscript.dll |
| c. | Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
regsvr32 c:\windows\system\mshtml.dll |
| d. | Click View, and then click Internet Options. |
| e. | Click the General tab |
| f. | In the Temporary Internet Files section, click Delete Files. |
| g. | In the History section, click Clear History. |
| h. | Disable your antivirus software before you visit the Windows Update Web site. |
| i. | Click OK. |
Disable or close all security and Internet acceleration software. To do so, use any of the following methods:
| • | Right-click the icon in the notification area (by default, located on the right side of the Windows Task Bar) that represents the program, and then click Disable, Close, or Exit. |
| • | Press the CTRL + ALT + DEL keys at the same time on your keyboard to bring up the Close Program dialog box. Select the program that you want to close, and then click End Task. Repeat this method for each security or Internet acceleration program, and then click Cancel to close the Close Program dialog box. |
| • | Contact the vendor of the software or visit their Web site for additional information about disabling or closing the program. |
