Keep that connection open
When you use fast user switching to change users in XP, by default you'll be prompted to shut down your Internet connection or other remote access connection. If you want to keep the connection open so multiple users can use it, you can edit the registry as follows
Edit the registry
- Click Start | Run and type regedit to open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to the following key:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
- Right click an empty space in the right details pane and select New | String value.
- Name the new value KeepRasConnections
- Double click it and in the Value data field, type: 1
