In order to offer remote assistance in Windows XP (Professional Edition), you must configure the Offer Remote Assistance policy so that the user has the appropriate permission. This means you must configure the expert to offer remote assistance (the expert is the user offering assistance). You can use the following steps to configure the Offer Remote Assistance policy
Here is how
1. Click Start and click Run.
2. Type gpedit.msc and click OK.
3. Expand the following: Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / System / Remote Assistance.
4. Double-click Offer Remote Assistance in the details pane. This policy setting determines if a person can offer remote assistance.
5. Enable the policy.
6. Select one of the following:
View and control the computer of the novice user
View the computer of the novice user
7. Click the Show button.
8. Click the Add button to add the groups or users who are allowed to offer Remote Assistance.
9. Click OK.
10. Click OK.
