Moving R&B, day 4

We all packed up this morning and left Rachel and Petey to fend for themselves in Greenville. Last I heard, Rachel has her living room finished already, and we made her promise to post pictures when she's all done.

We've been driving all day, so there's not much exciting to talk about. Most of the time it involved me playing video games. If you never realized that the Gameboy is the greatest travel companion ever invented, you're missing out. In fact, I can't think of a trip I've even been on without one Gameboy or another...

We're probably getting back sometime around 4:30 or 5:00 tomorrow. Then I can live by myself again! I'm not very good at living with lots of people...and did I mention that the bathroom at the apartment is the kind where you narrowly avoid hitting your head on the wall every time you go to sit on the toilet?

Oh, on the way out this morning I realized that I never took a picture of the house from the outside. Theirs is the porch underneath the stairs.

Moving R&B, day 3

We got everything unloaded and into the apartment this morning. I hear there was quite a bit of difficulty returning the moving truck, because it seems that The World does not accept travelers' checks any more. Come to think of it, I've never even seen a travelers' check before...

Matt, Molly (the GPS), and I left around 12:30 for Chapel Hill, where we were supposed to have someone waiting to give us a campus tour. It was about a 2-hour drive, and when we got there we found out that they don't give 3:00 tours any more. So, we gave ourselves a tour of the geography and music departments and looked around campus just a bit. We didn't get to talk to anyone (as the professors are all gone for the summer), but we did find out that the only masters degree the music department offers is in musicology, so that's out for me. The campus was very pretty, and what we saw of downtown was fun too. We stopped by a bubble tea to buy a drink and use the free wireless. I got a coconut bubble tea, called such because of the tapioca pearls, or "bubbles" floating in the bottom. They're kind of a strange, nondescipt taste, and almost impossible to chew.

Our car was parking in a garage on a road parallel to the main downtown street, and advertised that you could take Amber Alley to get to the next street over. Note the preserved insects to the left.

All in all a good trip, even though we had no tour. And we got to play with Molly too!

Moving R&B, day 2

Right now Matt and I are sitting with our computers at the bar in Rachel and Blair's new kitchen, with no internet connection. The rest of our caravan is supposed to be showing up around 11:00. We got to Greenville around 5:00 and found the apartment, which is, to say the least, a very small step above Donaldson Brothers. It's actually a really big house divided up into 5 apartments. So we've spent the afternoon unpacking what was in the van and doing some repairs.

Our shoes were dirty after bringing in the boxes (it was raining) so Matt and Shanna left theirs on the porch. And before they knew it, the shoes were gone! Turns out that Dixie, the friendly dog who greeted us upon our arrival, is also a bit of a cleptomaniac. We found all the shoes, but I don't think Matt's are dry yet...

We've got our fleet of air matresses inflated and ready to go for whenever everyone else gets here. I know you won't be reading either of these posts until tomorrow, at least. Matt and I are driving two-ish hours to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a campus tour tomorrow, and are hoping they will have wireless. Wish us luck!

Moving R&B, day 1

Well, we finally made it halfway to North Carolina. In case you don't know, we're helping Rachel and Blair move to Greenville this _iframe.gne?zg_bg_color='+zg_bg_color+'&zg_person_id=96445918%40N00&zg_set_id=72157603653058524&zg_context=in%2Fset-72157603653058524%2F'; document.write('
