Funeral arrangements to take
place
between now and December 27
Wednesday, November 18
If you read the Pacer
article about RatemyProfessors.com,
then you will know that Lúcia Flórido came in a smoldering
second among the hottest professors at UTM. While the article was
being written, Will York at the Pacer was in close contact with
Lúcia, who was quite shocked to find herself runner up to
David Coffey. Soon after she told Will of her great disappointment,
her husband sent this tear-soaked email, which I think you may find
hilarious.
Dear Will,
I am here crying and contacting Lúcia's dearest friends through
her email account to share with you all some very sad news. I'm sorry
to inform you that Lúcia died 35 minutes ago. She killed herself
by swallowing a light bulb. I took her to Volunteer Community Hospital
as soon as I realized what she had done, but it was too late. I have
to add that the light bulb was still on when my beloved wife passed
away. I consider this to be a sign of Osiris indicating to us all
that she was really hot, even after her body was already cooling down.
She left a note for you, Will. She wrote that you two
had discussed plans for the eventuality of her sudden passing. Thus,
you are in charge of all the ceremonies. On a second scribble, she
added that, to honor her memory, you, and the Pacer staff who so much
found her to be marvelous second to Coffey, will run the upcoming
Saint Jude Marathon carrying her coffin. Those were her last wishes.
I'm sorry for all this trouble imposed on you, but you
should have known that Lúcia was a bit unstable and prone to
extreme acts of folly when upset. I hope to hear from you soon, so
that we can make arrangements for the ceremonies that will take place
between tomorrow and the 27 of December. I guess by her notes that
she was hoping for something like Princess Diana's or Evita Peron's
funeral.
Now, we should all gather and support each other in
this moment of emptiness and inconsolable grief caused by the departure
of Lúcia, a Southern comet who crossed our lives with a huge
shiny tail of beauty and magnificence.
With a broken heart,
Randy

A Free Moment
Friday, November 16
I bet you thought you would never hear
from me again, didn't you?
As you can tell, it's been a busy semester!
I have had next to no free time whatsoever, so the
blog obviously went on the back burner. But I've been
updating little things in my spare moments...the calendar
here, the header there, and it finally made it off
my computer.
What have I been doing all semester,
you ask? Well, I'm taking lots and lots classes, for
one thing. I have my last gen ed requirement, public
speaking right now, but other than that I have all
music classes. I'm also doing SI for a Spanish 115
class, otherwise known as Spanish for those who had
it in high school but have forgotten most everything
by now.
In addition I'm still playing in the
7:14 Band, still singing in the church choir, still
ringing handbells, and working as a graphic designer
for The Pacer. And having SI sessions at night and
trying to get in 12 recitals before the end of the
semester, which is fast approaching.
Next semester doesn't look to be any
less busy than this one — I registered for classes
Wednesday and will be taking 19 hours, plus whatever
Spanish class I SI, assuming that we receive funding
again. So at the moment my schedule looks like this.
I still have to add the Spanish class, voice lessons,
and rehearsal with Delana, but you get the general
idea. Did you notice Spanish comp? I've been needing
that class for a year...I got Dr. Nappo to change the
time so I could take it this semester.
That's about all I have time for at the
moment. Even as I type this I have a long weekend to
do list waiting for me. Be sure you check out Matt's
new blog, Map
This!, the new Apple links to the left, and my
latest Pacer graphic!
Hopefully I can post links to the rest of my graphics
sometime, in case you missed them. Check back for updates;
I might not wait two months before my next post...
