UT-MARTIN IMMERSION PROGRAM IN GUANAJUATO, MEXICO

(Sponsored by the Mid-Continent Consortium for International Education)

Summer Program at the
Universidad de Guanajuato:


July 3-5, 2005

Program Costs -- $2,575 (US dollars)


Students must pay the Consortium $1,864 of this amount by the dates given below.
Upon arrival in Mexico, students must be prepared to pay the U. of Guanajuato and host families $711.

Above Program costs include:

  • (1) Round-trip flight Nashville-Leon-Nashville; trip from airport in Leon to Guanajuato upon arrival and return trip from Guanajuato to airport at conclusion of program. ALL STUDENTS MUST TRAVEL WITH CONSORTIUM GROUP TO MEXICO AND BACK!

  • (2) Spanish language (and Mexican civilization courses) at the U. of Guanajuato (approx. 4 hours/day) taught by native-speakers on the university staff. Students will transfer 6 Spanish credits back to UT-Martin.

  • (3) Home stay with Mexican host family which will provide three meals per day.

  • (4) Three weekend excursions: one to Teotihuacan, two to destinations in the Guanajuato region. The Resident Director may organize additional (optional) excursions at additional cost.

  • (5) All administrative and personnel fees. STUDENTS WILL BE ACCOMPANIED TO GUANAJUATO BY A FACULTY MEMBER WHO, AS RESIDENT DIRECTOR, WILL MONITOR THEIR ACADEMIC PROGRESS AT GUANAJUATO AND HELP THEM RESOLVE ANY PROBLEMS THAT MIGHT ARISE.

  • PAYMENT SCHEDULE: $1,864 must be paid to Dr. Crapo on the following dates:
    March 05: $200 Deposit (NON-refundable after May 1, 2005) Consortium and
    Guanajuato applications due; Make checks payable to the Mid-Continent Consortium
    April 09: $ 832.00
    May 07: $ 832.00
    Note: Depending on circumstances, students who withdraw after May 4 may not receive a refund of their air fare. No refunds of air fare are possible after June 2.

  • UPON ARRIVAL IN MEXICO, STUDENTS MUST BE PREPARED TO PAY THE U. OF GUANAJUATO AND HOST FAMILIES $711 IN TRAVELER'S CHECKS FOR PLACEMENT EXAM, EXTRA CULTURAL CLASS, EXCURSIONS, ROOM & BOARD.

    !!!STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND AN ORIENTATION SESSION AT LIPSCOMB UNIVERSITY IN NASHVILLE ON SAT., APRIL 17, 2005!!!
