Seven folks made it to our inagaural hike on Saturday, May 6:

Nancy Warren
Vivian Norwood
Joe Seago
Andy Wright
Phil Miller
Jim Clark
Jerry Lenski

This was probably not our typical crowd of hikers because ultimately we< went 13 miles, whereas I would have predicted that most would opt for 5-8 miles (myself included). Indeed I had taken my bicycle to do about 25 miles after the hike, but thought the 5.5 hours we had spend on the trail sufficed for enough exercise this day. It was Nancy Warren -- who has designs on being "official photographer" for the group -- who at the last opportunity to cut the distance off about 1.5 miles -- shamed us into going farther.

The Fort Henry trail system is a very nice one and very well marked. There is very little elevation change. Flowing streams, lots of wild sweet william, and some other yellow wildflower I didn't recognize and mostly shaded forest, made for a pleasant hike. It would be nice to do this trail in different seasons. We say no other person on the trail all day, although there was one vehicle that did not belong to us in the parking lot when we got back.
