Project IMPACT

 (Immersion in Mathematics Pedagogy,

Application, Content, and Technology)

 

 

Project IMPACT is designed for West Tennessee middle school mathematics teachers (grades 5-8).  The Project will focus on geometry, data analysis, probability, and engineering and mathematics applications in the context of the Tennessee State Framework and Blueprint for Learning by blending technology, standards, applications, instructional methods, and research on adolescent learning.

 

Expected outcomes for participants include: (1) improved content knowledge and teaching methodologies for middle grades math teachers; (2) increased student achievement; and (3) enhanced utilization of technology as an instructional tools.  Project IMPACT targets two geographic arenas:  Northwest (Martin) and Southwest Tennessee (Selmer).

The activities of Project IMPACT are funded under a grant from the Tennessee Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education under the auspices of the Math and Science Partnership Program.
