The Citadel of Union City Commandery was part of a state organization named the Grand Commandery of Tennessee, United Order of the Golden Cross. The organization was instituted on May 10, 1877 as a secret agricultural society which supported cooperative farming and the regulation of commerce. The Minutes contain the official activities of the Commandery, including applications for membership, committee reports, and the election results.
