Hilt Forcum & Company
1903-1916

Hilt Forcum& Company was a lumber company organized around the turn of the 20th century in Obion, Tennessee (Obion County). The name was changed to the Forcum & James Cooperage and Lumber Company in 1914. The company would grow to four retail lumber yards prior to the Great Depression. The current company, now called Forcum-Lannom Inc., resides in Dyersburg, Tennessee (Dyer County) and produces building materials of various types. The collection consists of business and personal correspondence from company president Hilt Forcum from 1903 to 1918. Included are letters discussing the Paducah to Memphis Highway Movement, plans to purchase and construct a steel bridge over the Obion River, and miscellaneous bills of sale and photographs.
