J.P. Cannon Papers
1861-1865

 

J.P. Cannon was born in Gravelly Springs, Alabama in 1843. In the fall of 1861, Cannon joined the Confederate Army in Florence, Alabama as a private. He would see action with Company C of the 27th Alabama in the states of Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Following the war, he opened a pharmacy in McKenzie, Tennessee and resided there until the day of his death in 1919.
