HISTORY NOTE : The Tennessee Bicentennial Commission was established by Executive Order no. 51 by Governor Ned Ray McWherter on June 1, 1992. The executive order declared that a commission be organized by the Tennessee General Assembly and the Governor to develop statewide and local programs commemorating Tennessee's admission to the United States in 1796.
CONTENTS : The collection consists of correspondence and records produced by the Tennessee Bicentennial Commission from 1993 to 1996. Bulk of the material are project and program proposals for grants. Includes mission statement, amendments, by-laws, news releases, committee and sub-committee reports, minutes of committee meetings, financial reports, contracts and agreements.
