Summer Orientation and Registration

SOAR Sessions

We will be meeting virtually for each session date.

  • Monday, June 22 - (session full)
  • Wednesday, June 24 - (session full)
  • Friday, July 10 - (session full)
  • Tuesday, July 28 - (session full)
  • Friday, August 7

Note: The SOAR 2020 dates have been shifted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as of 3/23/20. Students with SOAR reservations prior to June 22 have been automatically re-registered for later sessions with specific communication sent by email and text message. What is SOAR?

After careful thought and consideration, we will be moving all Summer Orientation and Registration (SOAR) sessions online. Rest assured, we will be with you every step of the way as you finalize your enrollment with us. During online SOAR, you will get started off on the right foot and will be able to learn more about campus resources, financial aid, meet an academic advisor, register for classes and so much more! For planning purposes, appointments and meetings will be scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with several breaks throughout the day. Virtual SOAR is a mandatory event for all incoming freshmen to attend.

SOAR Schedules

Virtual SOAR starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:00 pm. with plenty of breaks in between. Please check your email as we will send out SOAR schedules for both students and parents and families.

Online SOAR Registration Instructions

You will need to have access to your UT Martin portal information in order to register for SOAR. To find your username and password, click here. The steps to find the online registration form are listed below.

  1. Log in to your myUTMartin Portal
  2. Select "SOAR Registration." It is listed under your Student links.

*In order to receive a refund on your SOAR payment, you must notify the Office of Admissions two weeks prior to your SOAR date that you no longer wish to attend.

Who should attend SOAR?

The student must attend SOAR in order to register for classes for the fall semester. Parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend.

 

Why attend SOAR?

You get the chance to learn about UT Martin’s curriculum and campus resources, register for summer and/or fall classes, meet faculty and advisers, and begin to develop lifelong friendships with other new students. SOAR is the time to become acquainted with out campus culture, and we hope SOAR will make you even more excited to be part of the Skyhawk family. SOAR is a mandatory event for all incoming freshmen to attend.

 

What should I wear?

  • Walking shoes
  • Dress for comfort
  • A sweater of light jacket is recommended

Will I have to pay tuition and fees at SOAR?

No tuition and fees will not be due until August.

 

How do I get my new Skyhawk ID? (UT Martin Student ID Card)

Before attending SOAR, we encourage you to upload a clear, current, quality photo of yourself at www.utm.edu/idcardrequest. This will allow you to not have to wait in the photo line at SOAR, and your ID will be in your student folder upon arrival. Photos will be taken at SOAR for those who do not get a chance to upload their photo.

 

Where will SOAR be held?

SOAR will be held at the Boling University Center on UTM’s campus. The GPS address for the building is 61 Mt. Pelia Road, Martin, TN.

 

How much does it cost to attend?

  • Student -$55
  • Parents/Guardians/Siblings - $25 per person

Fees include all meals and breaks

 

Do I have to be accepted in order to attend SOAR?

Yes, you must be admitted to UT Martin to attend SOAR.

 

What immunizations are required to enroll at UT Martin?

State law requires completed immunization records to be on file in Student Health & Counseling Services prior to the start of fall classes. Visit the SHCS Web site for Immunization submission information.
