Adds, Drops, Withdrawals

More information on adds, drops, and withdrawals can be found on the Registrar's website.

Advising Holds

Advisor holds are placed on your record automatically each semester. Prior to registration, contact your advisor to remove your advisor hold and review your plan of study. Provide your student ID number.


Academically eligible hold - Does not prevent student from registering. No action needed.


Advisor Evaluation hold - Students must complete the advisor evaluation prior to registering for classes.

Academic Progress - Check your Flight Plan

To review your academic progress, please check your Flight Plan. Flight Plan Degree Evaluation is an advising tool used by both students & advisors to evaluate coursework against degree requirements.

Flight Plan Student User Manual


You may log-into Banner to check your Flight Plan. Note the areas that are “not met”. Depending on your catalog year, there are certain requirements you must meet in order to graduate, such as:

  • 25% of your hours must come from UTM
  • Minimum 2.0 UTM & overall GPA
  • Maximum 9 hours of Upper Division transfer credits allowed
  • 60 hours must have been taken from a 4-yr institution
  • Must complete General Ed & Major Field Tests
  • Must complete 30 hours of Upper Division Coursework

In your last semester

Students must take the Gen Ed & Major Field exams (both available online)

COMM 230 – Public Speaking

  • COMM 230, Public Speaking has historically not been offered online at UTM, but will be offered in the future. The online course is COMM 229, Public Communication. Additionally, you may take it at another university and transfer it to UTM. Please see the transfer equivalency Webpage here:
  • Do not wait until your last semester to take this course as it might not transfer in time for graduation
