Alan Youngerman joined UT Martin's team as an adjunct instructor of Geology in 2009 and most recently as the Director of the UT Mat1in Center in Selmer in 2014. Before coming to UT Martin, Alan served 7 years as a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America. While working for the Scouts, Alan was the Business Manager and Camp Director for Camp Mack Morris as well as most of the council's year round activities. Previous to working with BSA, Alan was a business owner in the housing industry. The business included building and overseeing 4 sales centers and 11 subdivisions. During his time in the housing industry Alan served as President of the Mid West Tennessee Manufactured Housing Association, Vice President and subsequently President of the Tennessee Housing Association in Nashville. Early in Alan's career he was a consulting Geologist working in Exploration, Mining and Environmental Geology. Alan's geology endeavors saw him working in 11 states from Alaska to Florida and Nevada to Virginia.
Both for study and leisure, Alan has traveled extensively. He has lived for the summer with families both in Norway and Austria, visited 18 countries internationally and 49 of the 50 states domestically.
Alan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from Tennessee Tech University and a Master of Science Degree from the University of Nevada's Mackay School of Mines.
