The BFA in Fine and Performing Arts with an emphasis in Art Education prepares art teachers for public and private school service, who possess knowledge and skills in the arts, advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in art education, and understanding of the roles of education within wider contexts of culture and society. As undergraduate Art Education majors, students will complete a sequence of studio art, art methods, and theory courses. The program culminates in a semester-long student teaching assignment, administered by the Educator Preparation Program and supervised by the Art Education faculty. Completion of this direct-entry pathway results in a BFA in Fine Arts with Tennessee K-12 Visual Arts Teaching Licensure.
