Program Description

The Department of Health and Human Performance Licensure program is one of three in the State of Tennessee which is CAEP and State Board approved offering both a Physical Education K-12 and a Health and Wellness K-12 endorsement.

Program Outcomes

Upon graduating from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a B.S. in Health and Human Performance and a concentration in K-12 Licensure, graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with Health Education as a discipline
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Physical Education as a discipline
  • Demonstrate behaviors essential to becoming effective Health/Physical Education professionals
  • Plan/Implement standards-based practices in Health and Physical Education

Program Highlights:

  • Opportunities to engage with Faculty in community service, scientific, and applied research
  • Opportunities to attend and present at state/regional and national professional meetings
  • 4 semesters of field experience in area schools prior to student teaching
  • 15-week student teaching experience including elementary and secondary levels
