Assistant Professor of Military Science and Leadership
Major Ahmad N. Matthews commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers upon his graduation from Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA in 2009. During his career, Major Matthews has served in various command and staff positions within the United States. His tours of duty with tactical units include: Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in the 19th Engineer Battalion, XVIII Airborne CORPS; Assistant Plans Officer in the 36th Engineer Brigade, III CORPS; Battalion S4 and Company Commander in the 62nd Engineer Battalion, III CORPS.
Major Matthews has enjoyed broadening assignments throughout his career to include: Observer Controller/Trainer at DIVWEST, and most recently, as an Ambassador of the SECDEF’s Total Force Policy, serving as an Associated Unit Program (AUP) Liaison of the 111th Engineer Battalion and 36th Engineer Brigade.
Major Matthews holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bellevue University, and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University.
Throughout his career Major Matthews has earned the Air Assault Badge, and been awarded the following medals: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Good Conduct Medal.
