The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a major in Marketing is designed to prepare you for a career with the knowlege and skills needed to become effective and efficient in the field of marketing. You will have an opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills as best suited for yourself through the choice of electives within the major. You will better understand business and marketing areas including: promotion, slaes, consumer behavior, logistics, business-to-business relationships, data analysis, and strategy. Your study will include topics such as: market segmentation, product design, distribution, customer service levels, product differentiation, market niche, customer demographics, product promotion, logistics, retailing, service marketing, sports marketing, strategy, sales and selling, international marketing, and more.
Did you know that approximately one-third of the U.S. labor force uses skills directly related to marketing in their jobs? That's why majoring in marketing might be just the thing for you. As a marketing major, you will be introduced to a common body of business knowledge followed by marketing specialty courses that include contemporary subjects like business-to-business marketing, direct marketing, ethics and services marketing. You may also travel abroad for course credit in international marketing to countries like England, Ireland and Hong Kong.
Your learning can happen in several different ways. First is the classroom experience where lecture, team projects, and individual reports are required. You can also have an internship experience within an organization once you reach Junior classification. The third learning option is an independent study wit hthe supervision of a marketing professor to guide you in your analysis of a marketing topic.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the global aspects of business, the ethical aspects of business, effective critical thinking skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, the business core, and competence in marketing.
