Digital Photoshop *

Dates: TBA

Time: 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Instructor: Dr. Tom Gallien

Registration Fee: \$145

This course is designed for the student to learn Adobe Photoshop, the most widely used software for manipulating digital photos. It is the standard program for photographers both professional and amateur. From the very first class you will go home excited about the number of things you can do to bring dull photos to vivid life and which photos you can literally bring back from the dead! With each class you will discover what wondrous things you can do with you photos. Before long you will have photos that look like the professional's. This course is 6 nights over 6 weeks and each evening's work will build on the previous things you have learned the week before. Therefore it is wise to make sure that you can attend all scheduled nights if possible. This course is only offered once a year so don't miss it! Please note that this is not Lightroom, although this course has been designed to include some of the mechanics of Lightroom which will enable you to use the basics of that program.

About Dr. Gallien

Dr. Gallien has been involved with digital format photography since its early years of development and has extensive knowledge and experience in its use. * Note

Due to a change in the software license, each participant will need to purchase the Photoshop software prior to the class. This software should be downloaded to your home computer or laptop and all you will need is your individual username and password to access the program on the UTM computers. Photoshop CC (Not Adobe Elements) cannot be purchased as a standalone program but will, instead, be downloaded to your computer on a monthly lease program (such as cable TV). It is very affordable as it costs only $9.99/month and is constantly updated to your computer with no additional cost ever. This assures that you will always have access to the latest updates and software version. It also has a 30-day free trial (suggested) to get you started with your first month free. This is something you would need to do anyway if you intend to use Photoshop after your course. If you do not, you can cancel your subscription at the end of your subscription period. The access link to checking out the software is https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html?promoid=695P7SPW&mv=other. Or, you can go to Adobe.com/photoshop and follow the appropriate links from there. Please be aware that if you show up for class without your personal username and password (it would be good to have it written down on your notepad) you will not be able to access the program.

If you already have the program at home on your laptop, you may just want to bring your personal laptop to class rather than use the UTM desktop computers. If you have any questions before the class starts, you are welcome to email Dr. Gallien and he will be happy to answer them. His email address is tgallien@gmail.com.
