Director of Physical Plant Operations

Tim Nipp - Tim is a graduate of The University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He obtained his Master of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Arkansas and is a Professional Engineer licensed in Tennessee. He obtained his PhD from UT Knoxville. Tim began as Assistant Physical Plant Director in April of 1995 and has since advanced to Director of Physical Plant Operations. He is responsible for all the Physical Plant Operations. Among many accomplishments during his tenure, Tim was awarded Employee of the Fall Semester at the Chancellor's Coffee in 2008.

Associate Director of Building Services

Brad Burkett - Brad is a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Electrical Engineering. Brad came to UTM in April 2004 after extensive work at an electrical engineering firm. As Associate Director, he is responsible for the HVAC, carpentry, paint, key, electrical and plumbing shops. He also contributes to the workings of the Physical Plant by doing electrical design of lighting projects for UTM.

Interim Custodial Manager/Recycling Coordinator

Mike Davis - Mike graduated in 2000 from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management with a concentration in Parks and Recreation Administration. He began his tenure at UTM as a student worker while also attending college. Then in 2002, he started full time in the paint shop as a temporary employee and then moved to the Steam Plant as a boiler operator/mechanic. In 2011, he became the Recycling Coordinator, a position he still holds. Along with that work, he has also been tasked with being the Interim Custodial Manager since February 2016. In that role, he provides guidance to a staff of around 45 that work all hours of the day and night in order to maintain an ever growing campus.

Business Manager

Rebecca Baker - Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lambuth University and her Masters in Business Administration from UTM. She began her tenure here in August 1998 working in various accounting positions on campus until accepting the full time position as Business Manager of the Physical Plant in April 1999. She is also a member of IAAP. Rebecca works with budgets, facilities inventory, local capital outlay and various other accounting reporting and responsibilities. In 2007 and 2016, she was recognized for Employee of the Month of the Physical Plant.

Administrative Specialist II

Pete Gibson - Pete began with UTM in July of 1999 as a HVAC mechanic. In that position, he received training in building management programming and care of the housing facility systems. His work included scheduling of HVAC systems for the campus and he worked diligently in that role to meet campus needs. In May 2015, following the retirement of the Physical Plant accounting assistant, Pete moved into that position. Following the retirement of a long time tenured administrative assistant, he was promoted to that position where he currently works in handling campus work orders and providing assistance to the director. Pete has received the employee of the month award during his tenure in the Physical Plant.

Accounting Assistant III

Kelli Barnes - Kelli began her years at UTM in September of 1996 as a senior secretary for Men’s Housing assignments. She then moved into payroll and accounts payable for Housing in 2000. In 2006, she took the position of Administrative Secretary of Housing. Her tenure with Housing was 19 years before taking a new position at UTM in the Physical Plant as the Accounting Assistant III in December 2015. She has her certification as a Professional Secretary and her responsibilities at the Physical Plant include employee payroll, requisitions, and accounts payable.

Accounting Assistant II

Tracie Stewart - In May 1992, Tracie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administrative Service from UTM. Shortly after receiving her degree, she began working at the Physical Plant in the position of Accounts Payable and Receivable. Her title has since changed to Accounting Assistant II. In 1997, Tracie completed training as a Certified Personal Secretary. Her tasks include accounts receivable and accounts payable, reconciling campus utility ledgers, work order transfer vouchers, capital project transfer vouchers, monthly EPA reports, transportation services billing and reconciling procurement cards, just to name a few. Tracie has also been recognized as an employee of the month by her peers.

Project Coordinator

Dana Hagan - Dana began work at the Physical Plant in April of 2006 in a temporary capacity as a project coordinator. She is a 1994 UTM graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology, emphasis in Civil Engineering. In July 2009, she accepted the full time position of project coordinator. She completed her Masters of Science Degree in Engineering Management through UT in May of 2015. Her job duties include coordination of local and capital projects, relocation of campus departments for capital projects, writing and reviewing bid specifications, Autocad drawings and layouts, campus site map for utilities, project punch lists and warranty lists, scheduling of projects and contractors, as well as monitoring daily work orders. Dana has been recognized as Employee of the Month for the Physical Plant.
