Self-assessment is a valuable tool for social workers and a vital component to professional development. These tools can assist you in identifying areas of strength and barriers to your academic success. Students are encouraged to complete one or more of the self-assessment tools below in preparation for completing their own Individualized Student Success Plan (ISSP).
The first ISSP is due at your initial progression interview. When completing the ISSP for the first time, students should complete the "Strengths," "Barriers," "Goals," and "Objectives" sections. You will also want to add a date for a deadline of when you would like to accomplish each objective. Goals are what you want to happen or what you want to accomplish. Objectives are how you plan to make your goals a reality or what steps you plan to take.
When providing an update on your ISSP at your advanced and full progression interviews, you should complete the "Results" (with what actually happened) and "Completed" (with Yes or No) sections. At advanced and full progression interviews, you will need to show what has been accomplished or is still in progress. You will also want to add any new goals and objectives for the future.
The form is a Word document, and you may type directly into the form. Be sure to save a copy of your plan for future updates and revisions. You may add additional goals and objectives to the form as needed.
