UT Martin homecoming scheduled for Oct. 22-28

MARTIN, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee at Martin will host its 2018 homecoming festivities Oct. 22-28 on the main campus. The annual Quad City tent festival will begin at 10 a.m., Oct. 27, with the homecoming football game against Southeast Missouri starting at 2 p.m. in Hardy Graham Stadium.

Attendees can reserve tickets for the Quad City food tent and football game, as well as homecoming T-shirts, online at utmforever.com. Meal tickets are $10 per person, and football tickets are $15 online. T-shirts range from $12-17 and shipping is available. These items can be picked up at the Quad City alumni tent. Remaining football tickets will be available for purchase at the stadium ticket office prior to the game.

The 2018 homecoming theme is “Where in the World is Captain Skyhawk?” and various campus organizations will showcase traditions from around the world during Quad City and other homecoming events.

Traditional homecoming events include rope pull at 4 p.m. daily with championships beginning at 3:30 p.m., Oct. 26; lip sync at 7 p.m., Oct. 23; the pyramid competition and pep rally at 7 p.m., Oct. 26; and the National Pan-Hellenic Council step show at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 27. These activities will all be held in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center with the exception of rope pull, which is held behind the Student Recreation Center.

New activities include tailgate games from 4-6 p.m., Oct. 22, at the Student Recreation Center, and a comedy show from 7-9 p.m., Oct. 26, in the University Center’s Duncan Ballroom, sponsored by the UT Martin Black Alumni Council.

Visitors can also attend a womanless beauty revue at 7 p.m., Oct. 25, in Watkins Auditorium. This annual fundraiser is sponsored by the university student chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, and tickets will be available at the door.

The annual University Choirs’ Dessert Evening will also be held at 7 p.m., Oct. 26-27, in the Fine Arts Building. Admission is $18 for adults and $12 for UT Martin students and children age 12 and under. Contact the Department of Music at 731-881-7402 to make your reservation.

The UT Martin Black Alumni Council will host a reception for current students and alumni at 9 p.m., Oct. 26, in the Dunagan Alumni Center, as well as “Party with a Purpose” at 9 p.m., Oct. 27, at the Opera House Restaurant in downtown Martin. The 1988 UT Martin football team will also host a team reunion from 7-9 p.m., Oct. 26, in the Champions Club located at Graham Stadium.

Saturday, Oct. 27, is the primary day for homecoming activities and includes the Letterwinners’ Breakfast and Athletics Hall of Fame inductions, and the Chancellor’s Brunch and Alumni Awards Program (both by invitation only) prior to the opening of Quad City at 10:30 a.m. The Skyhawk football team will take its traditional “Hawk Walk” through the festival at 11 a.m., and the football game begins at 2 p.m.

Homecoming week will end with brunch from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Oct. 28, in the Skyhawk Dining Hall. Brunch prices are $12.21 for adults and $5.78 for children under 12 years of age.
