UT Martin wind ensemble

OcTubaFest, wind ensemble concert, Contemporary Music Festival held Oct. 29-Nov. 3

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Music will host “OcTubaFest,” a wind ensemble concert and the second-annual Contemporary Music Festival during Oct. 29-Nov. 3. All events are open to the public and are located in the Fine Arts Building’s Blankenship Recital Hall unless otherwise noted.

“OcTubaFest” will be held from 7:30-9 p.m., Oct. 29. “OcTubaFest” is a performance by UT Martin’s Tuba and Euphonium Studio, an ensemble of 10-14 music majors led by Dr. Bill Waterman, UT Martin director of athletic bands.

The wind ensemble will hold a concert from 7:30-9:30 p.m., Oct. 30. The UT Martin Wind Ensemble is composed of wind, brass and percussion musicians. Led by Dr. John Oelrich, UT Martin director of bands, this ensemble’s music selections reflect the history of wind band and global cultures.

The music department will hold the second-annual Contemporary Music Festival on Nov. 2-3. The event will premiere works by UT Martin student composers at a concert from 7:30-9:30 p.m., Nov. 2, in the Paul Meek Library. On Nov. 3, the “Call for Scores Winner Concert” will feature composers from across the country who were selected through the department’s inaugural Call for Scores competition. This concert will also take place from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
